The Colorado Rockies play in the National League West, a division that is very close in talent.  The San Francisco Giants seem to be taking a lead in the division behind a young and talented pitching staff, however the Dodgers under new ownership are not afraid to spend the money and make the moves to compete now.  Arizona has a lot of talent but are not really a factor yet, and the same goes for the San Diego Padres.

The Colorado Rockies started play in 1993 joining baseball at the same time as the Miami (Florida) Marlins.  While they were the first of the two to reach the playoffs doing so in 1995, they have yet to get a World Series ring.  The early success was from the “Bronx Street Bombers” with Dante Bichette, Vinny Castilla, and Andres Galarraga powering the team to one of the better offenses in baseball.  The majority of the teams success has been surrounded by a powerful offense due to the thin air in Denver and the ball traveling out faster than in most parks.  The Rockies are looking at re-building currently behind cornerstones Troy Tulowitski and Carlos Gonzalez.
